No matter where you want to, most likely you will be able to find one or more golf courses nearby. If you are going with the whole family, miniature golf courses are great as the whole family can play together. Vacations are special occasions, so you will want to plan and choose carefully when making your golfing plans. Consider the difficulty level of the courses you are considering. Playing on a course too far above or below your level can make for a disappointing outing. In some locations, the weather and climate (strong winds near the ocean, extreme heat in desert areas) can increase the difficulty of a course, especially if you are not used to playing in those conditions.

Many resorts have nearby courses with different difficulty levels. This can be an important factor if your group includes players with very different ability levels. Most resorts also offer other activities (such as swimming, tennis, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking) to accommodate people who have other tastes besides golf.

When making your golfing plans, be sure to find out all the details. Many quoted packages may not include taxes and other fees. If buying a package deal, make sure you understand which hotel you'll be staying at and which course(s) you'll be playing.
